A consultation is being held by Altitude (Ascot) Limited on proposals to find a new use for the Waste Transfer Station at Oakfield Farm site, Wells Lane, Ascot. The named option being considered is a “small number of high quality new homes”.
While we recognise that alternative uses to waster transfer would clearly be desirable, we have a number of serious concerns:
- The location of this development lies entirely in Green Belt
- It is in an area designated in our Neighbourhood Plan as an open gap that helps maintain the separation between Sunninghill and Ascot and prevent urban sprawl, deemed very important by the local community
- It is an important site environmentally with a primary Green Corridor running through it, which our Plan policies seek to protect
- It lies in a flood zone
- The proposed area for this development extends well beyond the current built footprint of Oakfield Farm
Initial studies and thoughts from the developer will be on display at a public exhibition at Ascot Hall, Ascot Durning Library, High Street, Ascot, SL5 7JF on:
Friday 5th December 2014 from 2.00pm to 5.00pm
Saturday 6th December 2014 from 10.00am to 1.00pm.
Local residents are invited to come along and share their views. Feedback from these consultation sessions will be used by the developer to work up a masterplan for the potential future of the site so it is important that as many people as possible contribute their views.
